This small addition to a 1790's house blends sleek contemporary fixtures with existing rustic spaces. The stainless steel finishes and window wall in the kitchen contrast beautifully with the rich tile flooring and brick wall.
And in the bathroom, that same contrast can be found again. A frameless glass shower door and simple fixtures are set against an exposed brick fireplace and rough-hewn open beams. To see more of these beautiful interventions, visit Studio-A Architecture.

What is it like renovating a 200 year old house?
Stunning!
wow that kitchen is a beauty!! It needs a chaise to lay on and read cook books while taking in the outdoors.
Thorndale, I read it as 1970 and didn't realize it was 1790 until your comment. Either way I love the look the kitchen is going for, I don't so much like the layout or the small space it's in.
I don't like the bathroom so much, it's an unpleasant contrast for me.
Ha! I read 1970 too. I love the bathroom, but not the kitchen. It looks like a three-season porch to me--there's too much glass for it to feel cozy and inviting.
I think the bathroom is great. I do like the kitchen, too, but wonder with the big island if it doesn't get too cramped in there sometimes. If it were me, I'd expand out through the patio a bit.
Did you have to get special permits to renovate a house that old?
I love that you can feel like part of the outdoors while cooking. Also wonder if that is a working fireplace in the bathroom. Beautiful rooms!
sweet!
