- What I Love About My Small Home:
- When first viewed I instantly knew the apartment was a perfect blank canvas for epxperimenting with my new design aesthetic. The exposed beams and vaulted ceilings are beautiful. The apartment was built in 1668 and has a unique character that can only be acquired with time. I take pride in the fact that as an artist my hand has a part in many aspects of the home. The photo over the sofa was taken out the window of my pick-up truck driving cross country with my brother. The side tables are logs found in an alley in Arizona. The coffee table I made from a giant piece of wood that washed up on shore in Long Island. The Bar cart was rescued from an abandoned warehouse down the block. The Huge chandelier I grabbed from a salvage shop for $200 spray painted white and hung from an old pully given to me by my granfather. I thrive on trying to proove that great design doesnt have to cost a fortune and can have sentimental meaning as well.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The biggest challenge was editing. For the first year I had a different layout in the living room to fit a 60" round dining table. Eventually I came to realize it was too much for the space and had to take it out. The 38" square table in the kitchen was all we really needed. Just like any other art form sometimes you have to go too far before you can understand the limits.
