- Name:
- Sacha
- Location:
- Pretoria South Africa
- Division:
- International
- Inspiration for my palette:
- Our black chesterfield couch, we wanted something strong and bold to complement it. We brought in touches of mustard yellow, to add a touch of brightness and fun to the space.
- Colors used in my room
- Navy Blue,Black and a touch of Mustard Yellow.
- Tips for using color successfully
- Don't be afriad, if you hate it, it is easy to change. Dark walls create a great atmosphere.
Paint large pieces of cardboard with your different choices instead of painting it directly on the walls. It works so much better, put the colour up against the wall to see the effect in different parts of the room. Depending on the time of day the colour can look totally different.

That's a whole-lotta-color! That barbershop chair is fantastic!!!
I agree with ASHELYCCLINE in her comments. I will add that the barn doors is cool but I know I would get tired of this color scheme rather quickly and my favorite color is BLUE.
Why no mirror or print in the frame? It's way to cool just to be sitting there all alone.
Wow! This room really belongs in this contest! The accessories look very carfully chosen as you really matched the hues well. I think this allowed you to use such a bold palette without it appearing overwhelming. Love that funky plaid wall.
I love the color-guts here! I'm digging the barber chair.
So this is how t feels to fall in love at first sight....
Thanks for the great comments, feedback and votes.
@ LyonStill the barn door is one half of a old shipping container's door.In keeping with the re use of shipping containers which form part of the house.
Well done! Love what you done with the space, the blue is the best colour you could have used!
Wow!! I dont 'really have much to say but wow. I am impressed actually!!
whoah, this is crazy cool. you've got my vote.
I think I'm more enamored with the accessories than the color. It seems very rich to me, almost too much so. I adore the yellow accents, but it feels like there's too much going on for my liking. It has a very 1960s mod feel to it which definitely caught my eye; I could picture Warhol holding a salon here...
Love it, love it, love it!
Not my style but I do like this room. It's funky-cool and young. You can't help but be inpress with the level of design shown here. It is really very well done!!!
Thanks for all the votes and comments!
@Reni Valentine - it is not as "bright" in real life, it does appear brighter on the pictures.
WOW! Stunning!
This room reminds me of that episode of Parks & Recreation when they showed Aziz Ansari's characters apartment and it had every luxury item you could imagine: cashmere robes, fruit and cheese tray, mink throws, massage chair.. It was just everything cool thing you could possibly want in one space.
continued..
This room is minimal but intense; matchy, but with a pop; modern, but with classic pieces; mirrors, horns, flat screen, re-purposed chair, clashing, but complementing patterns. Every great design tip we have had in the last 10 years crammed into one space. The total package. I was on the fence at the start of this comment, but tipping towards love.
I am a bit overwhelmed by all of the purple in this room. Also it has too much fruniture; keep it simple; if less furniture; the purple would not br do overwhelming. Good luck!
Very cool but you should get a pillow with a Swedish flag instead of a British one if you really want to go with your colour scheme. ;-)
Autumn1956 - Purple??! There is no use of purple in this room.
Good contest, Sacha! Yours was the first "WOW" room in our division!
