Has anyone been out for a horse ride in this newly-crisp autumn air? Did it inspire any interior decor ideas? Look down, and it might. The saddle blanket under your toosh just might be perfect on the floor in your home!
Made of thick, woven wool with traditional yet simple designs that could fit into many different styles, saddle blankets could make great floor coverings. They would need a good rug pad to keep them from slipping, but once you have that in place, you have a reversible, durable, and often very affordable floor covering. The saddle blankets we've pictured above are examples of ones we'd love to have donning the floors of our home:
- an antique from Charley's Navajo Rugs
- a blanket made with Tongue River Farm's rug warp yarn
- a geometric yellow on Ebay for $10
- Double Weave Saddle Blanket from Stony Plain Tack
