Even though solar power is already helping to create greener energy, we still have a long way to go before we can stop depending on fossil fuels. This solar-powered lamp uses a very simple idea, which could be used by a bunch of other devices.

This lamp basically sticks to the window so that it can "suck" in some solar power and recharge. At night, the lamp is powered by the stored energy. While the term "suck" is used, it's just because the lamp has got a photovoltaic cell stuck onto the window using suckers.

This great idea comes from Stephane Maupin. His concept minimizes materials and uses the maximum of renewable energy. It's called the Saint Clair Lamp. The lamp sticks to your window during the day and is moved around during the night to provide the best illumination possible.

This design by Maupin was important enough to win him the VIA Project Assistance Grant, meaning that we'll be seeing a prototype of this lamp pretty soon. What would even be more interesting, would be solar power-enabled venetian blinds, something that would just harness all of the power and store it for nightly use.
