The New Italian Contemporary Sofa: Low, Soft & Stylish

Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2011

For a long time, the concept of a contemporary sofa could be summed up in a few words: sleek, clean-lined, sitting up on narrow legs, neutral, geometric. Well, at Salone, I saw more and more sofas that break that usual mold in a big way — the new contemporary sofas sit flat on the ground, tend to be more overstuffed, soft and comfortable looking while still appearing VERY stylish.

10. Bonaldo

It's refreshing to see the shift happening and interesting to see how the different designers/manufacturers embrace this look. I expect to see more and more low and soft sofas make their way into the mix here at home as well — it's just a matter of time!
