It's refreshing to see the shift happening and interesting to see how the different designers/manufacturers embrace this look. I expect to see more and more low and soft sofas make their way into the mix here at home as well — it's just a matter of time!

#1 looks straight out of a 70's porno.
ya, maybe if Robert Plant and Nichelle Nichols (star trek :) starred in it. it's that hot, sincerely.
I really like the Arflex couches. I find that with this look, while there are a few that I really like, there probably more that just seem too shapeless for me.
number 5 looks like SevenSalotti Naviglio to me
I like my high furniture... it's classic, and discourages the dog from climbing on me. Flat to the ground isn't a bad thing though (it hides the sleeper mattress!).
Yes! What sofas should be like: comfy and lush. Welcoming you in a soft embrace.
Not that stupid revival of the 50's with that thin and uncomfortable forms.
And #1 is my favourite.
#1 is my favorite too-- and it bears more than a passing resemblance to the early '70's Harvey Probber version that I own (See Stellah's Teeny Tiny entry above). Random fact; Harvey Probber reputedly invented the sectional and his upholstered pieces got lower and softer as his tastes evolved...
I like #1 as shown on the manufacturer's website in the Sapphire velvet - but the others are just too cheap & untailored appearing or sterile & bland for my tastes.
I actually really love several of these - they look like comfy couches to snuggle on, perfect for the family room. While I love more tailored and structured couches, when I go to flop down on something I want depth and smooshy-ness.
Radioriot at least you got the period right.
The sofa is actually from 1972!!
I'm still a bit shocked.
And there is a great sofa-bed version too. (°_°)
Now I love it even more!
