Attics are a great place to set up a home office, if you're running low on space. They are usually quiet, away from distractions and can get quite cozy, if you lay out your home office the right way. We really enjoy Sam's System Attic, her home office located in her attic. It's functional, neat, and minimal. Plus, Sam is a total Mac addict!

Sam is a graphic designer from Newcastle, in the UK. She's got a Mac obsession and has the latest Mac gear for her comfy home office, located in the attic of her home. Her attic is pretty big, since she was able to separate it to form two distinct workstations, one for her iMac, and one for her MacBook.

She used an IKEA Mikeal desk as her main desk, the one for her iMac. An Expedit bookcase separates the desktop from the laptop workstation, which is located on an IKEA Dave desk. Her office chair comes from Tesco. Her back up hard drives are located on shelves on top of the cabinets under her desk, effectively storing them away without putting them inside a drawer. This is a smart idea, because these hard drives can generate a lot of heat and it's best to leave them out of drawers or have drawers with adequate ventilation.

Sam was using a Mighty Mouse in the past and has moved onto using a Magic Mouse. She enjoyed the transition, but recently she got an Apple Trackpad and hasn't looked back. She uses the trackpad as her main pointing device for her iMac. In fact, she's actually shelved the Magic Mouse.

We really like how clean her setup looks. Also, the fact that she separated the home office into two distinct workstation gives her a lot of flexibility. She also used a bookshelf to separate them, which is also cool, because you can see the other workstation through the shelves. All in all, Sam has got a pretty sweet setup in her attic. We just wish that our own attic was at nice as hers.
