This morning, I spotted Heidi Lender's apartment on Desire to Inspire and that little green-eyed monster known as envy reared its ugly head. Look at this place though...how could it not? Amazing natural light? Check. Beautiful architectural details? Check. Tolix chairs, concrete counter tops, magnificent lighting? Check, check, check! Ugh, that monster just got a whole lot bigger.
Apparently Heidi is moving soon and somehow I managed not to get the invitation to take over her apartment as is. If you are still looking though Heidi, I'd be happy to do you the favor!
There are a lot more drool worthy photos over at Desire to Inspire: Reader's Home to feast your eyes on. Make sure you have a napkin ready while you are looking through her apartment. With features like a walk in closet, bathroom shelving and tub encasing made from concrete, hardwood floors, a patio space, black pocket doors (yes!), and Beni Ouarain rugs, you will undoubtedly have some drool to clean up. As far as San Francisco apartments go, this one is definitely a gem!

White Enamel Four-P...
Beautiful
But does anyone else share my feeling that those Le Corbusier lounge chairs look like some kind of futuristic, Old West themed ab roller chair?
Ugly galloping horse? Uncheck.
So, are arco style lamps still in? I am seeing them everywhere and not knowing if they're old news or not. I like 'em, I guess.
Seeing those arc lamps everywhere is driving me insane. I must have one.
Beautiful, bright space...absolutely love it.
@alicia - you know, I'm not sure how much longer they'll be "in" - but since everyone should design their home for themselves, I say put whatever you like in your home and who cares if it starts going "out of style" - these lamps were in style around the 50s and 60s, and fell out of style after - now they're in again and it's possible they'll be out again - trends come and go but certain trends can turn out to be timeless.
not thrilled with the livingroom, but love the other rooms ;)
When I bought an arc lamp 12 years ago I thought it was a good investment piece at the time because it looked great in my old place so I had it for about three years. However, it did not transfer well into my house now so I sold 8 years ago and I really don't miss it.
I think they photograph well, I think they have that wow that looks great over there appeal but they are not that universal in every space and I don't care for the type of light they produce. I didn't actually like using it to read under it was bit too harsh.
I had very high ceilings and in a very dark corner it served a purpose and looked stunning, but it would look ridiculous in my current place.
DWR, check check check check check check check check check check check check. Well apparently they haven't much creative inspiration outside of the DWR magazine... Looks like dwr threw up all over this place ;) Where's the Eames though..?
blehhh
Nice kitchen. The rest, ehhhh...
I thought the kitchen and bathroom were a little boring (except the cement countertops, which were great), but I love the rest of the place. The living room is fabulous! I'm partial to Togos. Are they teal or grey, I can't tell. I'd love to see them pushed together like a sectional, since she has the essential corner piece...
"Seeing those arc lamps everywhere is driving me insane."
A good enough reason for me NOT to have one -
- Who wants to follow the crowd?
The bones of the apartment are really good - I really like the kitchen (tho it desperately needs a tile backsplash) and the bathroom...
...but yeah, there's alotta DWR & Ligne Roset goin' on in there - At least the rugs are unique.
@bepsf - Basically what you're saying is that you want to be unique...like everyone else... :) I kid, I kid. I get what you're saying, but I happen to like the arc lamp and we don't know anyone who owns one, so at least among our circle of friends, we're singular!
If y'all are dismissing this as "all DWR," two things:
1) You aren't looking closely enough (at this apartment or at how DWR styles their own catalogs).
2) You can buy a lot of the stuff DWR sells elsewhere (and cpuld before any of us even heard of DWR). Funny how DWR has made some items of furniture so readily available that (at least around here) they have become synonymous with a specific look.
I love how light and bright it is, and the shiny wood floors.
I absolutely loathe the bathroom, though. Very, very creepy.
"I absolutely loathe the bathroom, though. Very, very creepy."
I'm curious what makes the bathroom "creepy" for you?
Is it the white hex tiles
The open shower?
The vessel sinks?
The formed-concrete tub surround and vanity shelves?
The open electrical boxes cut into the mirror where a couple of sconces will eventually be installed?
It's funny @curlybrown; I think most of the rooms are blech, EXCEPT for the room with the arc lamp and the cow chair.
I love the romantic lounge situation installed in the bay window/turret. I'm going to steal that idea immediately!
1) Why is my dog in her house? I could have sworn I closed that kennel door before I left this morning...
2) Can someone kindly roll up that rug in her living room and send it over here, please? Thank you. It's the very one I've been looking for. I'll even consider trading it for the dog (which she has stolen anyway, apparently.)
@MsDonnaGirl, that is in fact my rug in the living room, along with your dog. Apparently Heidi Lender has been stealing from us both. Let's get 'er.
totally great and yummy - except that cow chair, makes me think of a cross between a dentist and obgyn, bleh. otherwise, I want the rest of it please.
Hi are those pendants in the kitchen new or vintage. They look great.
