This tri-level home is located in Ota-Ku, Tokyo. The living room, reminiscent of a wood cabin, is sandwiched between the upper and lower levels. It ads a bit of warmth to this otherwise industrial space.
The house was designed by Ryoichi Kojima. You can see more photos of this striking home over at Totonko.

Wow...the concept is REALLY cool! However, the living room seems dark and closed in, and the rest of it seems like a lot of wasted living space.
It seems like it'd have a very treehouse kind of feel to it.
i think it's beautiful. does the whole family sleep in that one bedroom across from the kitchen? am i missing something?
I don't know that I think it adds a bit of warmth, at least to me, it adds more like a bit of claustrophobia. And, maybe its because I live in LA, but it also adds the fear of it falling on my head during an earthquake.
Who's gonna dust the roof?
Mmmm I thought the living room looked oppressively dark in the thumbnail, but on second thought it looks like a great place for a nap
Sousakuteki-des!
That's very cool.
Forget the treehouse room.
I'll take that rooftop shower!
Hmm, bringing the garden into your home is one thing, but bringing the garden shed in something else entirely...
I liked the house until I saw the bathroom. You can get away bathing in a room like that in the country with no one around, but not in a city!
