Santa Takes a Day Trip

Holiday Festivals North of the Golden Gate

Pin it button big

I do love ice skating in Union Square, but I equally adore sipping hot cocoa, nibbling holiday cookies and chatting with local shopkeepers in these three charming little towns just north of the Golden Gate. Jingle all the way, after the jump!

1. Point Reyes Station- A cozy coastal town with thoughtful small shops filled with local homegrown and handmade goods. Toby's Christmas in the Barn is a local favorite. Organic treats, music and a visit from Santa, who could ask for more?
Friday, December 3rd at 5pm.

2. Petaluma- A historical and hip little town, hosts a Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 4th. Stroll the streets with holiday carolers and Nutcracker ballerinas, while window shopping for the perfect gift. Santa arrives by boat on December 11th, followed by a lighted boat parade and more holiday cheer.

3. Fairfax-A small town set deep in the trees, with a lively main street brimming with a eclectic mix of unique shops and restaurants. Fairfax's Holiday Open House takes place on Sunday, December 12th. Santa arrives by horse and carriage while shopkeepers treat you to holiday cookies and warm apple cider.

Happy Holidays!
