Name: Sarah
Location: West Village, NYC
I would describe my home as classic modern. Most of my walls and furniture are white and serve as a canvas for bold colored accessories and graphic patterns. My apartment has no natural charm or beautiful architectural details, so I had to create an inviting, interesting and relaxing home from scratch.
I have mixed in antique and vintage items for balance - an old wooden school chair, a gilded flea market frame-turned-mirror, a tole chandelier spouting white lilies. The Louis XV armchairs that sit in my living room epitomize my style. When I found them in a junk shop, the chairs were painted olive green with chartreuse wide-wale corduroy upholstery. After being stripped, stained and reupholstered in Hable Construction's Lemon Rope, they are now a bright, contemporary twist on timeless design. I have taken two years to fill my apartment with things I love and now I would love to share my home with the Apartment Therapy community who provided me with great inspiration along the way.
Thanks, Sarah!

Nomade Express Slee...
where is your dining table from? Love this house call!
Wow! I aspire to have a home this chic someday!
What color is the wall behind the desk? I'm looking for a great slate/grey color. This looks perfect.
Hey! I have that same school chair in my living room, with the matching desk for the end table. (Been looking for another desk for years, but they don't turn up much.)
I love your restful use of tone-on-tone whites and off-whites with the mirrors and old furniture. It feels clean but homey - not sterile like some of the white interiors feel to me.
Nice work! I may imitate your double-bookshelf-desk dealio. Ikea, I assume?
I love this! FULL HOUSE TOUR PLEASE!!
I know they seem sort of basic, but where did you get the white shelving in your desk area?
Agreed, loving this! Full House tour!
Wow! Full house tour please!!!
luuv... want a full tour!
very classy, love it!!!!
Would also love to see a house tour.
Source for the couch please! Very nice, I love your home.
House Tour, House Tour!!! Love this place, what I've been trying to achieve in my own home, great taste and style; love, love, love!
Love!
Another vote for a full tour.
Sarah A. Detriot - The shelving looks like Ikea Expedit to me. It's a 4x2 shelf and a 2x2 shelf stacked. Notice the shelf two from the top is thicker.
I love it, especially in that first photo.
The yellow lamps and yellow fabric are amazing!! The colours, the furntiture~~it all looks great! One more request for a full house tour, please.
How is the bike being suspended?
I (n) the vote for a full house tour!
n being the number of people who have asked.
Love the lines of the furniture, the attention to detail, the color combinations, the artwork, the organization, etc.
Yes, yes, a full house tour for this one, I agree! :)
Full Fouse Tour requested!.....please.
This should have been given a full house tour set of photo's! The chairs you stripped, stained and recovered look amazing from what little can be seen.
I add my vote for a house tour to the n number of requests!
Ugh. When someone talks about something in the write up, can we please see it in the pictures!? Can barely see the chair, and where's this " tole chandelier spouting white lilies"?
I would love to see a full house tour. That way we can get a resource list for all your great items. Really like the lamps in your living room. Nice space!
Where did you get the white tray that keeps your alcohol and flowers safe? :)
I too request a full tour!
Wonderful! Pretty! Love it!
GREAT House Call! Love, Love, the space.
@agonigam we just painted a room in our house with a similar color - called Smokey Blue for Behr
Nicely done. Great apartment and steps from the West Village? Life doesn't get any better....
I love the teal (?) pillows! Gorgeous! Source?
Thanks, michelleb! ... You are totally correct!
Grazie!

House Call is really good. House Tour would be great.
Where could I look for a school chair like the one featured here? Ideas welcome!
Gorgeous. I love the look of a bike in an apt.
I have been looking for a couch exactly like this one! Any chance you can let me know where you found it? GREAT ROOM!!
Such a sophisticated style - I LOVE it!!! If only I can create something like this in my home! Bravo! I really think a House Tour is due!
Just another vote for a full house tour here!

Hi all...this is Sarah. Not sure if anyone will actually read this at this point, but, believe it or not, I just found out my house call got posted! In answer to your questions:
Dining table is from Craigslist (originally from Olde Good Things)
Color on wall behind desk is Kendall Charcoal (Benjamin Moore)
The bookshelves are indeed from Ikea, stacked and bolted together
Couch is Hawthorne from Room and Board
Bike is mounted via the Cycloc wall mount
White tray is from Bungalow 5 (Orchid Mirror Tray)
Teal pillows are Crate and Barrel
School chair was from Yesterday's News in Brooklyn
source for the throw on the couch please! i love it!
Amazing apartment Sarah - you have deftly combined the wow factor with subtlety. Your pictures have given us great ideas for colours, furniture and style in our own flat. Sad news for New Yorkers that you are leaving the Big Apple, but good news for those of us who have also relocated to the UK. Interested in doing a London apartment?
