Name: Sarah
Location: Upper West Side, New York City
My apartment went through a massive transformation — from grungy rental to urban, light-filled oasis. The use of space is smart. It's about 480 square feet that comfortably houses 2 adults who both work from home, 2 cats and 2 bikes.
I was inspired by Parisian flats where original details like moldings, high ceilings, fireplaces and patina-ed parquet floors are juxtaposed with clean and modern design of the Kitchen, bath, furniture and lighting.
Thanks, Sarah!

Nomade Express Slee...
Wow, that is a really tidy apartment. Would love to see a close-up shot of the tile on that fireplace. It sparkles - gorgeous.
super tidy, lovely job for a small apartment. I would of loved to see the fireplace tile as well.
Beautiful.
How do you like those lights by the bed? I've thought of getting one as a reading light.
Love it! Full tour, please!!!
Very nice indeed.
I love it!! So clean, fresh and modern with a definite European feel to it!
Good job Sarah!
Where's the couch from?
really like this! it seems so bright and warm. did you buy or make the ceiling bike rack?
wow -- that was grungy? the floors and walls look beautiful so there must have been substantial renovation. it's the perfect apartment. clean and fresh. a full house tour would be great and please include a floor plan! i want to see how it all fits together. :)
Why didn't you enter small cool? this is fabulous!
The only thing I really wish was different was the couch, I must admit, but its still beautiful
so tidy! can you come teach my boyfriend how to be tidy while working at home!
I like the use of the radiator as a night stand.
Is that couch IKEA's Lillberg?
Love it, would like to see a full tour.
More! More! Show us more! I only see one desk!
I like it except for the lack of windows. Or maybe they're just not shown in these shots.
Lovely! This has such a warm feeling to it. I too would love to see more, including a floor plan. Great job for under 500 sqft.
That's 480 square feet?? Wow. I second the suggestion that you enter Small Cool.
P.S. @Sally -- Did you see the bedroom window with a view of trees? That's a good view for NYC.
I'm going to be the fly in the ointment and say "I don't like it". There are things about it that I do like, such as the clever contrast between glossy marble and matt slate in the kitchen (the luxe and the utilitarian, tied by colour), but this apartment has a lot of potential that isn't being realised. It has high ceilings, amazing parquetry floors, a bold fireplace... and the effect is merely "nice", not "stunning".
All of those delicious architectural features are being let down by cheap-looking furniture and bland accessories. It needs things like some framed black and white etchings adding detail to the kitchen, colour on the walls (either in paint or paintings) and smaller pieces of furniture with more interest and poise.
Let me reiterate that this is a perfectly nice apartment - it's just that it has the potential to be more.
awesome apartment, id love to live there
Your space seems so much larger! Beautiful. I was curious what color is in your bedroom? Would you still have the color code/brand?
Love it! Full tour please . . . or at least more pictures and floor plan. :)
@RLB i think it might be...i've been on the lookout for a new (cheap!) couch for at least a year now...have been tempted by the lillberg (it's simple and inexpensive), but have usually convinced myself out of it for various reasons - it looks great here, though, makes me reconsider!
This apartment is fantastic! I love everything about it. Now this is what this site was supposed to about!
Thank you.
Lovely!
I did see the bedroom window, but that's actually the last place I would care about natural light (since that's the place I spend the least time awake). I guess a good view is yet another thing that comes at a high price in New York!
Love the view of trees outside the window!
I would have to disagree with some of the negative comments. I love a clean & not over decorated space. So many of the homes I see on this wonderful site make me very nervous & kind of itchy. Too much going on. Good editing.
Love it! So clean and open yet inviting and warm!
Please share what colour paint is used in the bedroom!
Thank you!
Wow, amazingly organized, a dream for us!
And I adore your kitchen, but especially the flooring. lovely
Very refreshing. I love the coffee table. Would also love to know the bedroom wall color. Cool bike rack.
I really like this! I would love it if you could post a floor plan and do you have more pictures? I am about to move into a 480sq foot area that I am working on re-modeling & would love to see more pictures and if you had a floor plan!
Just didn't get to see enough on this house call - need more pix. What I did see was good!
Nice space! You did a lot with a little!
May I ask what are the swing arm lamps you use above the bed and the ceiling fan in the living room?
It's amazing how spacious it feels for just 480 square feet!
Would absolutely love to see a full House Tour plan of the overall apartment layout.
