- We have two young children so our bedroom is truly our retreat. At the end of a long day, it's the perfect place to unwind and read a book surrounded by soothing tones and soft, comfortable bedding. My favorite aspects of the room are the 6 large windows that let in tons of natural light in the morning, the Orla Kiely wallpaper that I'd been eyeing up for a couple years, and the dressers and beside tables we found on Craigslist.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- To have an organized bedroom, the key is ample storage (and a large laundry basket hidden in the closet!). Less visible clutter means less stress. Then to turn the room into a retreat, surround yourself with beautiful pieces that make you happy.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- First and foremost, our bedroom is a place to relax, but we also need to accomodate the kids jumping on the bed on Sunday mornings. It's possible to have a room that's chic and sophisticated while still remaining functional. Since we spend lots of time in our bedroom cuddling with the kids, reading them bedtime stories, and watching Sunday morning cartoons, we have a big, comfy mattress with soft bedding and lots of light for reading.

I love this room design! Was the wallpaper purchased recently because I know it's been out of print for a few years now and I've been trying to hunt some down!
I love how you included decor that goes with the paint color! Very similar to mine which I didn't like because I couldn't think of any creative ways to decorate around it. Now you've given me some wonderful ideas. Your room looks very comfy, clean and serene. Simplicity at it's best!! You have my vote--Good luck!!

I like the picture you painted with the kids piling in the bed on weekends to watch cartoons - but I don't see a TV?

This is really lovely, impeccably finished. The colors work beautifully together and there is a great sense of balance and calm throughout. I would only say that for me, this kind of perfection is sometimes less than soothing because I feel it has to be worked all the time, to be maintained. I like a hint of looseness, or irregularity, in my own spaces, but I genuinely admire this one. And I second seizeandconquer's request about the lamps: where did you find them?

This is the first room I have voted for - lovely! It's funny... I have the same lamp on the low dresser, and also the blue glass candle holder on the bedside table. And I have been looking for a lamp just like the one on the tall dresser. Weird!

What an amazing space. That wallpaper is so cute :) It's definitely not my style but I still really love the look of it - like a five star hotel! It must be quite a job trying to keep it this perfect all the time! :)

- Paint color is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter (one of the historic colors)
- Bedside lamps were purchased at Home Goods
- Orla Kiley wallpaper was purchased 2 years ago so I'm not sure if it's still available
- Rug size is 7' x 9'
- The bed is from World Market
- Our TV is on the wall that sticks out on the left side of the first photo
I would have such jealousy at sighting of this room! Would reminding me many times of childhood when I would look out of a window (it is second floor, yes?) down to the great barley farm where my father would arrive on a jaunting cart pulled by a Czech steed named Vaclav. I would run down to the kitchien, the smell of her cranberry strudel perfuming the air.
"Mother! Mother! Father is riding Vaclav with eine tasche filled with pelts of badger and opossum!"
"Hush now, child."
"But what will he make of them? A special dirndl dress for the cold Leipzig winter? For me?"
"No, he must bleach those pelts for me to form into a rug, white like the snow and softer than dandelion on the banks of the Parthe."
"Oh, mother! That sounds delightful!"
And that rug she made? It looked much like the one in your dream retreat. I hope it gives pleasure as much.

I LOVE this room...obviously I'm not the first to say it. I just can't seem to put together a bedroom that feels soothing and finished...Seems like I care too much and can't make decisions! Beautiful. I love just about everything about this room. I wouldn't expect a wallpapered room to look so serene, but it really works. But then, I don't think I have ever seen a room with that wallpaper look less than fabulous.
You can totally still get that wallpaper. It's one of my favorites! I love how you did this room, but the lamps kind of fade into the wallpaper since they are the same color as the flowers? The lamps seem like a missed opportunity to add something completely unexpected to break up the color scheme. Like a bright yellow?
funny -- I clicked on the link to find out more about the wallpaper, and it's Orla Kiely! Love it! I am, at this very moment, waiting for the wallpaper guy to show up and hang some Orla Kiely wallpaper in our entryway. Love the color scheme of this bedroom, too!
Very relaxing and would give way to a good nights rest......soothing color palette with discriminating taste.

Wow! Love the colors and the decor. This is what I wanted to achieve in my room with similar colors but was not brave enough to try wall paper - you make it look easy! I agree with the others, I love the lamps and it's hard to believe that you found them at Home Goods. Also love the floor and rug. How long did it take you to put it all together?
