Maxwell is in Virginia today, where he'll be speaking at La Difference in Richmond on the "Short, Happy History of Apartment Therapy." While he's away, he asked me to fill in, so I wanted to share with you my Top 5 favorite short & happy recent posts. I chose this list because they're all fun, entertaining and memorable — happy reading!
1. Inspiration from Pee Wee's Playhouse
Guerrin Gardner and Mat Sanders are two relatively new Apartment Therapy writers who've jumped in with really strong posts. This one is my favorite — it's a style guide for anyone who (like me) grew up with this show and wished they had their own talking chair.
2. Chelsea and Sean's Eclectic Painted Home
This house tour comes from Chicago, where I lived for 12 years before moving to New York last year. I love the Midwestern DIY approach to life, so I love this tour from a couple who made their own crazy wallpaper.
4. Paule Caillat's Splendid Paris Kitchen
This post comes from Kitchn editor, Faith, who spent some time recently in Paris and photographed this AMAZING tour of chef and teacher Paule Caillat's kitchen. My favorite part is the deep red Lacanche stove. I loved this place so much, I wrote a get the look guide inspired by it.
5. A Vintage Chic Holiday Party
This is another post that comes from Chicago. I met Tereasa Surratt when I worked with her on an tour of a tiny guest cabin that she renovated in Wisconsin. She's one of those people who has a surplus of style, and this post by Apartment Therapy Editor Janel Laban just shows you how awesome it would be to get invited to one of her parties.
