- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love all the natural light and windows throughout my place. It always seems sunny, cheerful, and uplifting. I also love the hardwood floors and the large living room. It feels airy yet cozy at the same time. The location is great, too...I'm walking distance from the Santa Monica farmer's market so I treat myself to fresh flowers every weekend. And lastly, I love that most of my furniture and decorations came from local flea markets and thrift stores. It is really satisfying to find an amazing deal on a great vintage piece. It's addicting!
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- My biggest challenge is having a closet the size of a pea! I've made it work by filling practically an entire wall with an Ikea wardrobe. The other challenge is fitting all my stuff into a tiny space. I love antiques, tchochkes, art, fabrics, and furniture! I've only got so much floor and wall space, so I ask myself if I absolutely love something. If the answer is yes, I'll find a special place for it. Sometimes that means something else has to go. I try to surround myself with meaningful pieces but not let it get too cluttered.

Before I purchased my condo, I lived in a little cottage with a kitchen somewhat like this one except it was yellow tile with green trim. Brought back warm memories; had a wonderful landlord. Your home is lovely. Love the blue color scheme in some of those rooms.
I love this one so much! Especially your kitchen - great job!!
I love it. So pretty and colorful, yet light and airy at the same time. Great job!
I love that pale turquoise with the yellow!
Cute!! Especially the chairs.
Beautiful! Definitely my favorite so far. Plus it's in one of my very favorite cities! When I lived out there I had the hardest time finding a cute place with character. I settled for something much more generic.
This is my favorite thus far. I really hope it wins! So much inspiration to draw from! I love that it's so cozy and inviting-- small spaces tend to attract the really cold, abstract colors and furniture, in order to make it all fit.
very cool home !
Love all the personality that is packed into this small home!
Can you please tell me where your coffee table is from? I love it! I also love everything you've done with your place...it looks cosy and welcoming.
Bursting with cuteness! Love it!
My favorite type of home...filled with precious little joys, happy for you!
I love it! Beautiful little place.
I always love those shades of yellow and blue together, reminds me of Wes Anderson. Very cute home.
I currently live in a little cottage and my kitchen sink is almost exactly like yours! Except my tile is yellow with baby blue trim! Love your place. Very airy and cozy!
This is just beyond gorgeous!
Thank you everyone for the sweet comments!
@sandinmyunderpants - The coffee table is from the Long Beach flea market. It's an old ship hatch door with an iron base underneath. :)
@tracy333 - I'm jealous of your yellow tile with baby blue trim! Sounds like a cute combo!
I love your space. You have a beautiful feminine home that feels very lived-in and comforting. It's not my style, but seeing your pictures made me want to stop by for tea and gossip. Favorited!
Such a beautiful tiny home! So pretty.
Adorable! What is that lovely neutral wall color in the living room?
@Lollypup - Thanks! It's Brown Teepee by Behr :)
What's the green color in the dining room? And where did you get those lovely chairs?
Nice job, Sara! Looks better every time I see it. Where'd you get that cool light fixture in your living room? :p
It's super-gorgeous and perfectly eclectic!!! Love it!
LOVE!! It's bright and breezy and clean and cozy, all at once. I would love to live here.
ooooh, like! Kitchen is very groovy.
How cute is this place! When I can I move in? :)
You've given me so many ideas for my 530 sq ft!
loved how colorful this is.
Oh my ! I'm in love. This place is soo beautiful. I saw so many entries and was depressed by how uninspiring they were and then I saw your home and I knew this HAD to get my vote. :) Love it , absolutely ! Just my kind of home !
Love those peacock chairs!
Your place feels happy and welcoming. Great job.
I love the kitchen. Love the splashes of yellow-my favorite color!
Thank you for all your wonderful comments! It is seriously making my day! :)
@KLMCN82608 - The kitchen color is actually a mix of all the teal/ robin's egg paint samples I bought. I got really tired of going back and forth to home depot buying samples, and none of them were just right, so I mixed them all together and painted the walls with it! If I can find the paint card that is most similar to it, I will let you know!
And the chairs are from Ross, and they started out neon green. I spray painted them yellow...the color is Rustoleum's "Summer Squash."
@KENNEYTY - I didn't realize you were an AT reader! :) The light fixtures are made by my boyfriend... I think you may know him ;)
So lovely ! I don't know if my man could live in such girly space but I just love it !
Yours should definitely win, Sara - it's perfectly adorable. Love!
@LIBBY HISE - Thanks Libby! It wouldn't be the same without Nick's lights! ;)
Well done, belongs in a magazine! Love your style.
I love your place, I could live there in a heartbeat! So bright, cheerful and happy. Also, I was thinking about doing the same thing to turn those WM shower curtains into window curtains in your sewing area...I am glad to see that you were successful, it has inspired me to do the same!
@ILYCIA - thanks! I was wondering if anyone would recognize those shower curtains :) I loved the pattern and I was looking forever for something in that shade of blue. I just used stitch witchery and ironed the white fabric to the bottoms so they lay flat and don't have a seam. It was super easy. Good luck!! :)
So adorable and cheerful Sara! You've done an amazing job in your place!
Wow, favorited!!!
@sberrens, these 5 pictures are amazing but I'm sure there's so much detail left up to the imagination...
I think a HOUSE TOUR is in order!
Have you thought about it? Anyone else agree this needs to happen??
Sara! Your place is sooo sassy and real! I love it! I am sooooo tired of all the LAME millionaire apartments they have been showing recently! Like how hard is it to be creative when you are rich? Seriously! This is creative and awesome! Good job!
v pretty and serene, esp first pic - inspiring - thanks!
I have mild obsession with elephants, which it looks like you have on your indigo bedding. If you're willing to share, I'd love to know where you acquired it.
You're abode is so cheery, light, and packed with personality! Lovely job!
@CORI ANDER - Thank you!! I wish I could say the comforter was authentic, but I got it on sale at Urban Outfitters. It's called the Jaipur Quilt. :)
love this sooo much! especially your dining area and bedroom. I wish this was a full house tour. Do you have a blog or another source with more photos?
Doesn't have to be authentic, just authentically loved. Thanks for getting back to me! Wish they still had it. I love those playful elephants that are along the rim. Subtle enough to be a little whimsical, without being obvious. Love all the bursts of color you have mixed with neutrals. Looks like a little house of joy!
@ICEYSPARKS - Yes, I do actually! You can check out my blog for more photos :)

It's so girly and cheerful. I have to like it.
This is gorgeous! Right out of a magazine :)
Whoa! I grew up with that bed post! I never found out where we got ours. Where did you get yours?
@Braga - The headboard was a Craigslist find, so I'm not quite sure who made it originally!
Very nice use of color.
Where did you buy those pillows on your bed im just in love!
