Singapore has a fantastic design community and no shortage of fabulous shops full of the latest in home furnishings. This May we can look forward to a full day of celebrating this creative and vibrant community.
Saturday Indesign began in Sydney in 2003 as an annual trade event for designers and architects. This year they’ve branched out to the Singapore market so that the design community as well as design aficionados can enjoy their own version of this one-day event.
Visitors — both members of the trade and general public — will have the opportunity to network, share ideas and check out what’s new in the Singapore design world. Most of the exhibitors are in the home furnishings business and there are several design talks and workshops scheduled.
What am I looking forward to the most? It’s got to be the Aeron Hockey Championship game. Twenty-four teams will be competing in this super-competitive event and the winners will bring home new Aeron chairs. What’s even more impressive is that over 200 games will be played all over Asia with the finalists competing in Hong Kong at the opening of the Eames Gallery.
Saturday Indesign Singapore will take place May 18 - 21, 2011. Check their events page for greater details. Mini buses will be provided to take visitors around to the showrooms (see web for more information).
