Save the Date! Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation event is happening Monday, June 25 (5:30-9 pm) at the River East Art Center. From the press release:

Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation is the nation's finest culinary benefit supporting the effort to end childhood hunger in America. Every year, thousands of the best chefs and restaurants donate their time, talent and cuisine to create more than 60 events throughout the United States and Canada, helping to raise millions for hungry children.

Each distinctive event takes on the unique personality, culture and cuisine of its host city, with formats ranging from food and wine tastings to seated dinners, brunches and barbeques.

Local grant recipients benefiting from the soiree include The Greater Chicago Food Depository; Vital Bridges; Operation Frontline/Chicago – Near North Health Services and the Illinois Hunger Coalition.

Almost 30 of Chicago's renowned restaurants will serve signature items at Taste of the Nation, spotlighting the finest of Chicago's culinary offerings.

The event will be led by Honorary Chairs Graham Elliot Bowles of Avenues and Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, as well as Restaurant Chair Steve Chiappetti of Viand. Chicago participants thus far include: Avenues; Aigre Doux; Primehouse; mk; Le Lan; Joe's Stone Crab; Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine; Blue Water Grill; Bin 36; Graze; Boka; Landmark; De La Costa; Lula Cafe; Sola; Marigold; Avenue M; Kendall College; SushiSamba Rio; Viand; Rockit Bar & Grill; Fox & Obel; Pops for Champagne; Food for Thought; Julius Meinl; Argo Tea; Swirlz and many others.

Celebrity Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim will lead an interactive mojito station and the event will also include top mixologists from Weber Grill Restaurant; Nacional 27; The Tasting Room; the United States Bartenders' Guild; Tramontos Steak & Seafood; Entourage and others.
