I follow many Scandinavian shelter blogs and love them all. At the risk of generalizing, I would say the dominant color in the majority of images is white. Whitewashed and shabby or cool and shiny, there is a lot of glorious white in Scandinavian design, often paired with warm honey-hued woods and leathers, and eye-catching drool-worthy modern furnishings. But Scandinavian design has its more colorful side, too.
Think of the playful primary colors and stunning fabrics of Finland's Marimekko and Sweden's Josef Frank. Here's a look at some colorful Scandinavian bedrooms from blogs around the country.
1 Swedish fabrics abound in this bedroom designed by designer Charlotte Swiden. From Sthlm.
2 In this home from Design Attractor, the base color is white but there are layers upon layers of color and brightness.
3 The owner of this Swedish house works at IKEA. Such a sweet pastel nook for a bed. From Scandinavian Retreat.
4 In this one-bedroom apartment in Copenhagen, the IKEA Billy bookcase is used as a divider between the adult and child sections of the bedroom. I love the vibrant mix of colors and florals. IKEA Family Live via Casa Sugar.
