Nordic Design is a new blog to me — I came across it on one of my favorites, Seesaw. With the tagline "from Scandinavia with love," I knew I was in for a dose of modern, clean design. Their website is even designed to be image driven — with no words until you hover over the images.
These images are from three of my favorite homes featured on Nordic Design. All of these homes feel like a vacation to me! I can pretend, just for a while, that my desk isn't covered with my latest art project, and my kitchen doesn't really have those dirty dishes in it. I try to keep myself inspired to continue organizing and decluttering, with the reality check that my home will never really look like just like these ones...
Images 1-3: This home is called a "happy hideout," and that is exactly what it feels like to us. A fort for adults, where you and your 5 closest friends can go for a weekend and enjoy a bit of calm and quiet moments. Perhaps opt for white wine instead of red!
Images 4-6: This Norwegian home in Denmark is a little closer to what I might expect to achieve with my own home. The floors are only light wood, not white wood! The monochromatic color palette is fun to imagine, even though I know I have far too many colorful things. Maybe for one room?
Images 7-9: "Relaxed, down to earth and ethereal," is how this home is described, and I long for those to be descriptors of my own home! Little, tiny punctuations of color really pop on the black and white backdrop.
There are pages and pages of nordic inspiration to ogle at! Maybe I'll start with just one room and a lot of white paint...

I love this, amazing!
That Nordic design website has pretty pictures.
I love Scandi, but can we agree it's getting a wee bit tired? White walls, white floors, white bedding, it's really lovely in a house with no kids or pets and lots of natural light. I'm looking for something other.
"There are certain elements of Scandinavian design that make me crazy." and then you go on to list what it is you love. What is it exactly that makes you crazy about Scandinavian design?
I can't believe anyone with beautiful hardwood floors would ever paint them white. There should be laws against that. Otherwise this is all very nice, but just oh so very white
I love Scandinavian design but I have to agree with Parnassus. After years of seeing the white walls, white floors, white bedding an no clutter look in blog after blog, I've maxed out. It now suggests a certain lack of imagination.
