You could get pretty close to the look of the brown Parsons table with two IKEA LACK tables...just assemble the first one, stack it on the tabletop of the second one, and screw them together. $26 plus the cost of four screws and some rubber feet.

I like the second side table on your blog and I have a side table similar to it which I bought at Ballard Designs a year ago.
