You don't have to look too hard to find a vintage school desk. We come across them all the time on Craigslist, at the Salvation Army and garage sales and we always think they're pretty cool just as they are. But this little makeover ups the ante on coolness and now it's really love.
We spotted this on kelly+olive and were instantly smitten by how fresh and smart a little paint has made this desk. And when you're sitting down to do homework, you should feel fresh and smart! Click over to kelly+olive to see what this desk looked like before the redo to fully appreciate it.

Love this! I recently saw a whole pile of desks at an antique store recently for like $15 and wanted to remake one but my mom insisted that I wouldn't be able to repaint the top of the desk since it was that formica stuff. But I didn't even think of a white board coating . . .
What a fantastic idea! But, I am confused about the formica- the desks I sat in were always made of wood.
I've seen the all wood desks, the few I saw for sale cheap were a combo of wood and metal and the top of the desk was this slick sort of pale wood colored formica. Not terrible but not always the best looking after decades of children using them.
