This takes those blue carnations at the flower shop to a new level. Take this lesson in plant transpiration with the kids AND end up with a rainbow of flowers for the dinner table at the same time. Who doesn't like a 2 in 1? Now, if you are like us, you might think that having your kids observe white cut flowers change into the color of their water is not unlike asking them to watch paint dry. However it's actually a great activity for little ones with short attention spans. Any guesses how long it takes for the color to show up?

They call them crazy daisies at my local market. XD
Used to do this with the Queen Anne's Lace that grew by our house when we were little! You can do this with celery too, but it's not as pretty. ;)
