This first pic shows a Japanese scroll I bought in Kyoto when I was there four years ago. I have no idea of the artists name, the price was approximately $50. It was my second trip to Japan, and I was determined to bring home a substantial piece of art -- something I did not do duing my first visit. The gentleman in the shop told me it was painted "...before the war." -- and little else.

The third photo is a small water color done by a friend of an ex, Carma (last name unknown) -- a social worker from Barcelona who was spending a sabbatical helping run a small pleasure yacht in Haiti. She chose this from some things she had done during free time on her cruises, said it was for us.
This art resides on the upper west side near Columbia.
Thanks for all the fun of being part of AT!

It looks nicely integrated into the space. I like what looks like a little black border on a sisal rug that echoes nicely the black border on the runner that goes across that cabinet and the border of the watercolor.
Hey, is this the tall handsome rum-and-coke drinking Frank?!?
P(too) -- you've outed me!
I KNEW I'd get into your apartment some day. I'll settle for this way, I suppose. ;)
Very calm, classy, serene, easy on the eye, and something I'd look forward to seeing at the end of every day.
The art's not bad, either. ;)
and ditto Curtis' comments on how the work "talks to" the surroundings, but not in a forced or heavyhanded way.
LOve the scroll, and it is so easy to transport much easier than carrying a flat print back on th airplane.
Like Frank, I also love to bring back art from a trip or vacation, it is a great way to memorialize the trip.
PS The small print looks very special too.
Nice Digs!!!
Your place looks very nice and peaceful. I must be going blind, though; it was very hard to see the second picture.
Glad to be back (although only virtually) to your wonderful flat! best,
r.
