You spent weeks packing, organizing, and living out of boxes. Now it's moving day and you finally get to start settling into your new home. In all the hustle and stress of moving, wouldn't it be nice to stop and smell the roses?
Sometimes you need to do a little something for yourself. Sending yourself a housewarming gift of fresh flowers may help alleviate some of the stress of a move.
Schedule to have the flowers delivered the day after move-in. As you are knee deep in tissue paper and empty boxes, the arrival of fresh flowers will feel like a God-send. Once the fresh bouquet is in your new home, you may find that unpacking feels a little less like a chore. The scent of fresh flowers will also perk you up as you settle in.
Know a friend who's moving? Surprise them by sending flowers to their new home!

This seems pretty silly given all the extra expenses involved in moving
...because I want to suddenly drop what I'm doing and rush to find out where I packed the vases?
I'm with you guys. I just moved into my new house, and believe you me, the last thing I need to spend money on is something as insubstantial as flowers. Flowers last a week. A dresser lasts many, many years.
Even an oil diffuser would be a better suggestion, just for the simple fact that it will last longer and still smell nice.
Seriously? Send yourself flowers?
This is pretty ill-conceived for many reasons, such as those mentioned by the other commenters. Not to mention, you can just pick up some flowers at the supermarket for 1/5 the price.
You made me realise I haven't lived in a house decorated with flowers in vases since I left home. I...I don't think I own a vase.
The idea of sending flowers or to someone ELSE who has just moved is nice, as long as it includes a pretty vase (so that they don't have to search through boxes for theirs).
We have to give ourselves gifts for doing basic things like unpacking?
This would be nice if you had more than two cents to rub together after a move, which is something I don't forsee ever having.
Even if I did have a little extra money, it would probably go to take-out, or paint.
unless this flower thingy includes dinner delivery by the same guy in the picture, then no. too much hassle on top of what you already have to deal with.
I agree with the posts above - nobody feels like spending money after a move. And the last thing I want to see in a new space is baby's breath (though to be fair, I don't spot any in the photo).
Ditto on the self-absorption comments.
Oh I love this idea. If I could exchange the flowers for a pizza. With buffalo wings. And a liter of Pepsi (or beer if you happen to be lucky enough to live in a city with booze delivery).
That's my moving ritual--by the point that I'm surrounded by boxes and covered in sweat and feel like I want to die, ding-dong -- PIZZA!!!!!!! COKES!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a funny post and comments. I just moved into my first house two weeks ago and I am currently typing this at my dining room table next to a bunch of flowers, the first fresh flowers I have bought myself in years. granted, I picked them up for $5 at sam's club. and they did make the place look better and more homey until I finally got my pictures hung.
I never notice cut flowers until they start smelling like swamp so this would be a complete waste of money and time.
Ugh is right . . . another AT advertorial!
And how much is the floral company paying you to run this? Ick...agreeing with the above comments re: self-absorption.
Maybe a new plant would be better? Like a house-warming gift to yourself, as a final touch after you've finished moving in and organizing. And, it would actually last longer than a week, which feels a little less frivolous.
I gotta speak up for the flower lovers! There are those of us to whom a fresh bouquet in a new home would bring great joy. But I'll totally agree that these could be gotten on a grocery run or perhaps during the first exploration of the local farmer's market, and they'd be just as good or better. I do like the original idea for new neighbors or friends who are moving, though.
Lol lol This seems to be a pretty ridiculous idea. I love fresh flowers myself in a home. In fact I always have fresh flowers on my dining room table, from my own cutting garden during the spring and summer months. During the winter I will run to the florist or grocery store. So wait until you are all moved in and unpacked and settled. Then order the biggest brightest flowers you can afford.
Leave the flowers to the birds and bees to enjoy and instead perk yourself up by making a charitable donation. The thought that you have put that money to good use rather than just leaving it to wilt on a table will make you put the stress of moving into perspective when you consider the lot of others.
I'd rather buy a plant...at least it would last.
