Making things beautiful. This month on AT we are focusing on Adornment, looking directly at one of our goals - helping people to make their homes more beautiful (along with getting organized and healthy). We're blogging those visual details that make an apartment a home - the place we are happy and proud to come home to at the end of the day. It can be done through high design, such as the Bourgie Lamps and Cole and Sons wallpaper (shown above, from Living Etc.) or a simple display of a cherished collection, treasures picked up while traveling, a friend's artwork or the use of beautiful papers and fabrics. So, we're going to be looking at solutions both high and lo, at items both homemade and mass produced, simple pleasures and extravagant excesses - after all, beauty can be found anywhere, so we'll pull ideas from everywhere. We're also doing the Fall Cure for the first time locally. Check in here to see what the group is up to - and please, join us if you'd like to work your way through Maxwell's eight week plan with the support of wise and kind fellow AT-ers. It's not too late to jump in and make a difference in your home. Three AT:Chicago readers on are on to round two of the blik This Wall Competition - they should be receiving the decals that they chose this week and will be photographing the results. Stay tuned for the upcoming posts to see how fantastic their rooms look with a little extra adornment. Finally, the contest page is up for our Fall Colors contest. It's a big, fun, colorful annual contest and we'd love to have LOTS of entries here on AT:Chicago. Size is not a factor as it is in the Smallest Coolest contest - this one is all about color from it's most subtle uses to all out explosions - check here for the early details and consider jumping in. We hope you are enjoying a beautiful September - drop us a line or tag your photos with "apartmenttherapychicago" to share your thoughts and ideas on adornment with all of us. Photo via: Living Etc.
