Serving Cake and Ice Cream Like a Pro

Eliminate any unnecessary sticky moments after the candles are blown out with a few fun little tricks from the folks at Real Simple. We wouldn't have thought of this one: slicing a round cylinder of ice cream in half and then slicing the ice cream. It does look liberating!

Another suggestion: making a smaller ring in the center of a round cake and cutting the wedges around the edge with more icing for the kids (hmmm) and leaving the inner circle for adults. Finally, get the ice cream scooped before the party even starts: use cupcake holders in a cupcake tray for the scoops and store it in the freezer.
