We found a few new photos tagged apartmenttherapysanfrancisco in our Flickr account. We think Delaks' vintage desk looks amazing with her Eames Chair. It just goes to show that mixing periods and styles can really work well.

Delaks writes, My desk belonged to my great grandmother, a fabulous lady named Bessie who was unfortunately a prolific painter of furniture. When I first got this desk it was chipped, decaying and *BRIGHT* ORANGE - several weeks of stripping and sanding through the many layers of her paint, and its now a lovely shade of what I like to call a 'Martha' blue. I think Bessie would have been proud.
Thanks, delaks!

This is a good painted piece - and the color chosen is very nice.
It's such a good feeling to give new life to old things...especially when they come from your own family. Well done!
Wow - thankyou thankyou thankyou for featuring my pictures & for the lovely comments!! There is nothing more exciting than clicking over to your favourite website and seeing your own home on there, this has made my day!

Thanks Steph! Im actually in Sydney so I dont know if you can get the same paint brands over there? It was a gloss finish and the colour was called 'Crispy Aqua', I cant remember the brand though, I think it was Taubmans?
Love, Love, Love!
Thanks Delaks, I'm going to try to match it as best I can. The color and that chair have totally inspired me. i've been trying to figure out what color to paint a sideboard and this is definitely it.
enjoy the rest of your summer! ;)
Hey, can I get anyone's opinion on a potential color match to this desk? it's Benjamin Moore 'soft chinchilla'. Close?

i love this! old meets new.
i had a similar situation where i inherited my grandmother's fabric armchair and was looking for a modern desk to go with it. i ended up getting the CB2 peek-a-book clear console table with a credit i had. i ended up with the same effect you have--mix of periods and styles.
love the blue.
