Scmtngirl tagged some photos in Flickr so that we'd find them, and we did. She writes, Spotted this chair in the back of a picture on Craigslist from someone who was giving a bunch of stuff away for free on their sidewalk. Asked the gal to hold it for me for $20. Not an original, but a very high-quality reproduction with a faded "Made in Italy" sticker on the bottom of the seat. Heavily pitted and rusted on the chrome, and the leather is cracked and needs some serious dressing, but it is all intact, still quite firm, and has some serious life left in it. Stoked!

Thanks, scmtngirl! We're excited for you. (Now about that rust... Will you try out this tip and let us know if it works?)

nice find!
just try the wire brush alone first. i redid my whole bike w just a wire brush (70s, prolly as old as that there chair, left out in manymany rains) and no solvent was needed. there's shiny metal hiding under there, you will be surprised!
for super stubborn rust "naval jelly" is the way to go, though i bet it isn't easy on the environment... but it is pink.
Brasso or Silvo from any Ace Hardware will also work wonders on the rust and tarnish.
What a great find. i would simply take some brasso and clean it up. also, since this is vintage anyway, a little big of age to it doesn't look bad. That's in my opinion :)
