AT:SF,
I fell in love with this accent chair because it works with my slowly-forming transitional design (the saber legs are a nod to my contemporary dining chairs, and the not-quite regency shape works great with my antiques), but it is $2000 in leather, with tax and shipping. Can you help me find a more budget-minded version around $800 to $1000? I've shopped every retailer I can think of and the closest I've found is a dining chair at West Elm -- unfortunately, it would look like an out-of-place dining chair in my space. Help?
Thanks!
Kim

You might want to try looking at used hotel furniture. I was looking for oriental chairs, and found some wonderful examples, for $45. There may be something similar in the style you are looking for. Good Luck.
I would suggest going back to the higher-end retailers and identifying the manufacturer and model of the chair that comes closest to what you want. Then keep an eye out for end of season furniture sales which tend to occur between January and June. Given your budget, and depending on the manufacturer, you should be able to find a new chair on sale. For instance, Baker is currently having a sale with everything priced 40-50% off. Otherwise, if you have patience, seek your chair on Ebay or Craigslist.

Sorry.
You can find a great version of this chair at www.nusafurniture.com, this company makes two model in particular which resemble the one you have posted. The madura and the ming chair, both beautifully crafted and less expensive.
Not so fond of the walmart options, but thank you for looking for me.
I like the Madura chair at Nusa... looking into pricing.
Thanks everyone.
Hi Kim, That chair is the Claude Chair from Hickory Chair. We carry their line in our store in Berkeley. It retails in Leather starting at $1755.00 plus shipping and tax. Currently, we are having a sale of 20% off until March 22.

Louis, I lived for 2 years two blocks south of Solano on Colusa when I was a soph/jr at Cal! I still have treasures I bought on Solano from 1982-1986 and LOVED it there!
You've probably already looked, but just in case, there are a couple of similar designs at restoration hardware.
