Hi AT:SF! I'm at a loss at how to hang art in my Victorian era bathroom as the paneling, moldings, and cove ceiling break up the walls so much. Would hanging a piece above the toilet or along the right wall make the room seem off balance? I have a collection of Art Nouveau prints from a trip to Prague that I would like to put up to tie the room together. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Covetry,
Lovely bathroom!
What about hanging up more than one piece to make it seem a bit more balanced?

Unless you have great ventilation or don't care if your prints last, I wouldn't hang them in the bathroom at all as the moisture could ruin them.
However, if you do hang them there - I'd put them in a row equally spaced along the right wall - all at eye level.
I agree with bepsf, especially about the moisture ruining the prints.
As for hanging the prints, if you have enough you could continue them around the corner to be equally spaced on the wall above the toilet and towel bar as well as along the right wall. I'm assuming the photo is taken from the doorway and I think it would be nice to see your art from there. Whatever you do I think you need to space them on the wall, not in relation to the fixtures.
If you have photoshop, it would be great to scan everything in and move it around there.
thanks for the quick feedback! the prints are pretty standard/cheap so i'm not too worried about damaging them. i feel like the wall needs something there. the only thing is that one of the prints is quite large and the others small. i do like the idea of running them along the right wall and continuing around the corner though. maybe i'll try the small ones on the right wall and the large one on the wall in between the toilet and the towel bar.
Although this is totally unrelated to your photos on the wall, is your shower curtain clawfoot tub sized or is it a combination of "regular" sized shower curtains?
I think you could think about what you want to look at when you're standing various places.
For instance, when you're in the shower, it looks like you can actually see through your shower curtain, so perhaps that long wall could have that one larger thing.
But for the other ones, think about what's in them, and what you'd like to see when you're glancing off at the wall next to where ever your mirror is while you're brushing your teeth.
If you have something else the right size for it, it might be nice to have something centered above the toilet itself.
That upper molding looks like it's a picture rail, or could be used as a picture rail. Get flat S-hooks and heavy fishing line. Using the picture rail to hang pictures means you can easily move them around to see what you like.
you have a lovely bathroom, but it seems "broken up" because of the paint job. I'd simplify a little, maybe paint it one colour or different shades of the same colour, depending on what you decide to choose. Then worry about hanging the art (also a new curtain might be in order?)
cinema - the shower curtain is two regular ikea liners that i cut to fit at the bottom. i wanted to show off the tub and keep the room open so that's why i went for the clear curtain, although maybe an upgrade to a better quality is in order - thanks sherry2! :) and the peach/green paint color combo is a color story that runs through the house (peach on walls and green on trim) to lighten up the wood floors so i think i will work with it for now although it does break things up.
i'm getting out my poster tack and am going to try some different combos before deciding on framing (or hanging from the picture rail - hadn't though of that!).
thanks again everyone!
Sorry to resurrect such an old post, but it is easy to cover (cheap poster quality) prints in clear contact paper before framing/hanging them in a bathroom. I have had good luck with this.
I really like your bathroom.
