AT:SF, What will be the next AT city site?
-Joe

Joe,
We get asked this question several times a week. So, after a lot of debate, we've decided to forget about DC and Boston. Instead we've decided to launch AT:Champoeg.

Nomade Express Slee...
Orlando :3
Yeah, it would be nice to have an AT based in a southern state. Maybe Atlanta?
I second Atlanta. :)
What about Austin, Texas?
ooh, austin. never been, but it seems nice.
atlanta, atlanta, atlanta!!!
NEW ORLEANS
I know this is another April Fools, but PHILADELPHIA!!
I'll write for you!
Orlando, Tampa, Miami any of the above!
DC catches the scent of the South from across the Potomac. It's not a perfect substitute but it's not a bad place to report on VA from.
Also, a geographic map is one thing, but lets look a map based on apartment density. I'll see what I can scrounge up...
CANADA!!! Any city is fine with me.
Atlanta. Please!!!
atlanta is a great choice, there are so many apartment dwellers in this city, i am doing the cure now through chicago and so many of my friends are going to join the fall cure. atlanta atlanta atlanta, i also would love to join the blog writters in atlanta
Atlanta!
I vote austin!!
Hartford!
Seattle or Miami (or both?)
Austin! Definitely Austin!
PHILADELPHIA PHILADELPHIA PHILADELPHIA!!
Atlanta, pretty pretty please!
Atlanta would be amazing! Miami or Orlando too. No southern love :(
Tampa Bay! We are centrally located in the sunshine state. Please :)
Isn't it nice that it is finally April? Perhaps we'll have some real spring here in the Midwest. I'm rather sad that you didn't choose Burlington, Iowa. It is a lovely town with many cultural amenities and a fine selection of locally grown corn, soybeans, and pork.
Philadelphia! Philadelphia! Philadelphia! We have lots of beautiful homes from the 18th to the 21st centuries, a great art scene, 2 IKEAs, a rigorous Craigslist community, "fabric row" (blocks of fabric stores), and enthusiasm! Although we're close to NYC geographically, we're not NYC. We've got our own style. Give us a shot!
PHILADELPHIA! We're always overshadowed by NY and DC.
Some place in Texas, we definitely need a southern AT! I'd prefer Houston myself, but Austin or Dallas works too!
AT Canada
Another vote for the southeast. Atlanta.
I think Miami is inevitable.
canada!
don't be afraid to invade your neighbours up north...
I know this is an April Fool's but ATLANTA!!!!
Yes...........ATLANTA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miami !
Miami.
Boston!
Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal
Ca-Na-Da! Think of the igloo coverage for next year's Small Cool :)
(No, we don't live in igloos.)
You can't just have AT CANADA.
Grid, speak for yourself. I love my cozy little igloo. I mean, as a weekend place.
But yes! AT Vancouver (and not just because I live here)! And other Canadian cities, too, of course.
Another vote for Texas...
Twin Cities - Minneapolis/St. Paul
Why:
Guthrie Theater, Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize
Walker Art Center, Herzon & de Meuron
Weisman, Frank Gehry
Minneapolis Library, Cesar Pelli
BluDot, Minneapolis
FlatPak, Minneapolis
20/21, Wolfgang Puck, Minneapolis
Jean Georges Vong., Chambers Restaurant
Several James Beard winners
Clean air, great river and lakes, and Money magazine named the Twin Cities the "Best Place to Live in the Midwest." Popular Science declared Minneapolis to be country's "Top Tech City." Travel Leisure declared "Minneapolis is cooler than ever."
And we're smart. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul are ranked first and third in Americaâs Most Literate Cities.
Austin please!
Austin.
BTW, DC is in the south. Maryland is also a southern state.
I second Minneapolis!
Seattle Please! I could see a Seattle-Vancouver things happening :) Both are amazing cities! I already blog about my apartment in Seattle
http://www.blogazar.com
AUSTIN TEXAS!
please represent the coolest city in the south!
oh, New Orelans is a good one, or dallas, or, OH AUSTIN! we need some southern representation!
Austin is winning.
Seattle!! The northwest needs to be represented ... and then south .... it sounds like Austin or Atlanta would be good options.
AUSTIN!
If SLC were cool, I'd vote for it. I live here, and it just sucks. :-(
Yeah.. Austin it TOTALLY underrated.
Toronto, Canada!
Denver/Boulder!!!!
I'm just curious about all these votes for Austin. Do you all of guys live there or just think that Austin is cool??
Austin is wierd which makes it cool or Maimi.
somewheres in europe?
Seattle. I definitely vote Seattle.
Keep Beantown & DC. To hell with the rest.
Dallas or Austin!
AUSTIN AUSTIN AUSTIN
Vancouver, CANADA!
Yeah, i live in Austin so i'm biased. but it would be great to see some TX up in here. check out the design guide Grace did a while back for design*sponge:
http://www.designspongeonline.com/2007/11/austin-design-guide.html
atlanta
Houston!!
Seattle / Portland, OR / Vancouver, BC
Northwest!
yet another vote for... AUSTIN
New Orleans...and I'll volunteer to write in a heartbeat
but my second choice would be Austin....
Dallas!!!!!!!!
Atlanta! please please! Look at all those votes!
(Maryland is NOT in the south!)
how about somewhere in arizona?
Maryland IS the south. It is past the Mason Dixon line.
Sorry to be the one to tell you :0(
The A-T-L! The only other southern cities that should be in the running at this point are New Orleans and Miami. O.K., maybe Dallas and perhaps Charlotte in a few years, but Atlanta has the most going on in every arena.
austin, schmaustin.
YO MAMA!
HOTLANTA BABY!
Second: AUSTIN
I've visited both places they're great.
Seattle! if not...
Atlanta!
But, this wasn't a genuine question - it was April Fool.
I also agree with Atlanta being from Georgia and all!
Seattle! The NW (Vancouver/Seattle/Portland) needs representation!
DENVER!!!! We will roll out the red carpet for you.
Portland!
April Fool's joke or not, hotlanta!
Austin! My favorite city...
or else Houston, but definitely somewhere in Texas.
TORONTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DENVER!!!!!!!!
How about Nashville for some Southern representation on here? Steeped in Southern tradition, with the funky musical twist and a recently bustling group of transplants thanks to the Nissan of North America headqtrs move from California to Nashville, as well as some other recent large business' headqtrs relocation, I think it'd be a great addition to the AT community!
AT Toronto
Dallas, or Austin would be awesome. Wonder if they're actually considering another AT city, though.
PORTLAND! Woop Woop!
Miami
Atlanta! (It's Atlanta, not The ATL and not Hotlanta.)
The only southern city I think may have more condo's and apartments would be Miami. But I think Atlanta would have some very nice places with a little touch of southern tossed in. I think it would be unique when compared to the other host cities.
AT: Iowa.
... Atlanta.
I've never been to Austin, but I lived in Shreveport, so I know that Dallas is all about big. Since Austin has cool people in it, I think it would be a better fit. Since it's a real college town, there are probably some actual small spaces there, too.
DC! DC! DC! DC! DC! It is sometimes a really staid enviroment, having something like AT there would be so wonderful for resources. DO it!
Austin is a must. It just makes sense after those other four. No question aboot it.
hehe, I'm interested in Canada since I know NOTHING of their home designs.
Wow. That joke just opened up a can of worms.
Toronto. please?
I knew it was a joke, but I still say: Hotlanta.
And again, for the snobbish set, I know it's "Atlanta"....
But it gets hot as hell in "Atlanta"...
And if you have a problem with "ATL" then take it up with the flight attendants...they were the ones who called it that back in the late '80's.
Again, people get so damm uppity....
Go ATL!
Miami needs you!!
Seattle!
What about Savannah instead of Atlanta?
new orleans -- just please not miami...
Orlando!
I'm in Chicago...so I've got no business voting.
But, looks like ATLANTA, AUSTIN & TORONTO are in much need of some Apartment Therapy!!!
Hope y'all get some, eh?!
Austin or Dallas, please!
Seattle please!!
Yeah.. Come on! We need AT in Canada!!!
SEATTLE!
AT Toronto!
I know this is an April Fools, but I still vote for Atlanta.
Toronto or Montreal.
Houston.
Tampa Bay or Miami
Montreal would be way cool...
but how about Barcelona or London or Buenos Aires for a somewhat different point of view?
Atlanta! Lord knows we need help. You've got not one but two AT sites in California. Why can't you show the South some love?
*sheepishly* Detroit???
AT Atlantis is the way of the future
ATL!
PHILADELPHIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Houston!
Miami.
Toronto!! We have lots of young rockin' furniture designers here...
MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA MIA
Dallas! DFW is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the US. Whatever the next one is, it needs to be in the south.
Toronto!
Ontario... it's yours to explore
Orlando,Miami,Tampa, or Atlanta!
Portland/Seattle. And I think I get extra points because I know that Champoeg is pronounced "Sham-poo-ee." I remember going to the state park to see music festivals growing up...
Austin, but we're closing the gates after AT ;)
Atlanta
Seattle all the way!
London or Paris
Amsterdam?
MILANO for a europe base... :D
Atlanta
Combining Austin and San Antonio as the map above does would be a great, diverse addition. Two very different cities, close together, both among the fastest growing in the US.
Europe...
I know its a joke, but if anyone is anyway serious...we could do with it!!!
Denver! C'mon now, Denver's hot! We're leaders in green building, home of some awesome furniture stores (Mod Livin' ring a bell?) and art galleries, and we have a ton of urban infill apartments and lofts that really fit the AT model! Bring it!
ATLANTA!! PLEASE!
ATlanta!
Is there any culture (let alone style) in ATL?
texas. definitely.
TORONTO/MONTREAL/VANCOUVER
I have to make the patriotic vote... I'm overwhelmingly sure there are throngs of people waiting to contribute.
There's some great design in Canada, neighbours! (So we use a couple of extra 'u's' and 'eh's' occasionally, you'll get used to it)
...with all of this response there must be some rumblings. Right?
(Cue brainstorm)
I back everyone who has said Toronto!
It should be Tucson, Arizona! Fabulous city with a lot of hip and creative people. I live here and have seen some beautiful homes, apartments and lofts with great style inspiration and funky designs. Plus the southwest has such an interesting aesthetic with the desert landscape.
