My style: Modern, bookish, like an adult who can’t give up his toys and chemistry set.
Inspiration: Lots… Swiss graphic design, music, furniture design, art, bicycles… I tend to surround myself with all kinds of different inspirational artifacts and everything is in a constant state of change… always buying and selling and trading different things. Obviously a big fan and very influenced by Charles and Ray’s lives – they knew how to do it, always creating things, experimenting, learning new things.
What Friends Say: That the place is too orderly!
Biggest Embarrassment: The dumb so-called ‘Juliet balconies’ on this building. Juliet actually had a balcony… this is more like a Rapunzel balcony. The door is good for ventilation at least.
Proudest DIY: My favorite DIY is my coffee table. I used to build a lot of furniture in steel and wood… it contains some really old walnut and teak that my grandfather gave me.
Biggest Indulgence: Hell, this is all an indulgence – who really needs this stuff!? That being said, I try buying pieces as investments – things I can enjoy for a while and sell or trade later for the same or more value. Always looking for that used gem or something in need of repairs, like the spun lamp I bought at a 75% discount and rewired myself.
Best advice: Be patient and seek out bargains or a cool used piece. Don’t always rush to the showroom, there’s goodies to be found everywhere.
