Ready to get started? We have a great group of 35 readers signed up for the Northwest SF-based Cure, and we hope you're ready to get going! Today marks the official start of the Cure, and we hope that most of you have bought the book and started reading. If you haven't gotten through page 69 of the book yet, you still have this week to do it (if you ordered from our store, copies are UPSing out today.) Now's the time to decide what Cure track you're going to be on: the whole-house Deep Treatment or the One-Room Workout. Personally, I'm going the Deep Treatment route, hoping to once and for all get our house into a truly healthy state a year and a half after moving in.

Week One Assignment (Deep Treatment):
Week One Assignment (One-Room Remedy):
Some of you have already been posting to our flickr pool, and it's great seeing people already giving each other advice (I've been having some computer issues, but am going to try to get photos of my own house up in the next day or two).
So - Deep Treatment or One-Room Remedy? Anyone getting stuck or having problems already?

I bought my flowers! $12.00 at Whole Paycheck, er, I mean Whole Foods got me two bunches of daffodils. They've lit up my living roo and I'm loving the hint-o-spring feeling that comes with using these in-season flowers (and they're cheaper!)

What is a style tray?
Anyone know where I can find the worksheets online? Or do I have to actually find a photocopier? All of the worksheet links I've found on AT are dead.
Hey - I bought my flowers too! I've also been adding to my repair list all day long. Egad. I have some work to do.
That70sHeidi, a style tray includes lovely images of things and ideas that you'd like to incorporate into your own home. The beginning of mine is here:

My Spring Cure 'before' photos are now up too. I'll be working on the Deep Treatment, but I'm also hoping for comments on a bathroom remodel and a fridge/closet passageway project.
I just got the book today, and it's wonderful!
Also, I want to doublecheck about where we "go" to participate;
I know about the flickr group, and plan to get involved there with pics and such - beyond that, are these Weekly posts (like this one, titled "SF Spring Cure: Week One - the Beginning") the only other place to post and get updates?
I'm a recent devotee of the Apartment Therapy website, and was so excited to hear about the book and everyone doing it together!
Also - how do I get on the list of readers in my area? (Oregon)
Is it too late to join? I have a DISASTER area I'd like to attack!
I joined a few days ago and somehow it didn't take because I'm not listed above---can I still participate?
It's probably just as well that I signed up but didn't somehow make the list...less pressure and one less piece of paper to handle :D
27angels, megagamma:
of course you can still join!!
Read the previous posts. sign in. explore the OLD archived cures (click on the tags and go to ny for "main" posts and old cures--- they used to do it from the main page all together instead of separating by geographic location.)
Just explore and do your best... the main thing is to work on your space and find a place to post where you can get ENCOURAGEMENT. :)
Don't try to do too much. (speaking from experience here). Since it's week one you are right on schedule. (no 'catching up')
AND HAVE FUN!!!
:)
good luck
I signed up on this site and flickr, but I'm not on the list
Sadness!
Everyone who's signup didn't take - we may be having some kind of glitch, so go ahead and sign up again here.
sorry about that, and happy curing!
Thanks! I just signed up. I'll post my nightmare pics later today. Just showed my co-worker and he couldn't believe I live like that. I can't either. That's why I'm here! ...It's super embarrassing, but at least I can hide behind an internet identity!
I'm still trying to get the link to the worksheets, which is broken. Can someone also explain how the flickr pool works? I have a flickr page but haven't ever flickred with a group. Do we just export our photos to the group site, tagged a certain way? Thanks! Will post as soon as I figure this out.
You forgot to add me to the washington group! We just made our list of repairs last night. Fighting the urge to just shove it under the bed and forget it!
piachka - i tagged my photos and posted to the flickr pool.
if you just tag the picture it won't show up on the group's page (only when you browse that tag).
to tag:
for the sf group use: apartmenttherapycuresf
and if you want to join the great (all regions) pool use: apartmenttherapycure
to post to the group:
1) go to your picture
2) there are little buttons on top of it (add note, send to group, add to set...) right under the title of your picture.
3) click on the second button (send to group)
4) select your group and it will post.
i hope this helped!
megagamma,
I too have found 'hiding' behind an internet identity eases the 'eeeek' factor of outing my true icky living. (wait til you see my pics... it's really gross)
no worries tho'. that's why we're here right? :)
Sad. I signed up too and wasn't listed. I just tried it again so hopefully that resolves the issue.
My husband and I just bought a house and we haven't moved in yet. I'm hoping to work on projects to stay on track and not get behind!!
I wish there was a link that stayed on the first page of apartment therapy that took you to the weekly cure postings so that I dont have to look through all the pages as the week gets longer. It would be nice to be able to visit all of the weekly postings in one place as we go along.
anewme08, you can bookmark the tag in your bookmarks bar.
I agree that it would be nice to have Cure links on the AT home pages for each region.
reggae chicken, thank you for the flickr help. Once I tagged it was pretty obvious what to do.
I made my repair list (looong), cleaning tomorrow, and will cut daffodils from my garden tonight! Are the worksheets up yet? I'd also like to get my floorplan online for feedback. Anyone else?
piachka, I'm trying to hit spots that I missed last fall. We have flowers that are courtesy of our backyard. I've cleaned the floors. Our fix-it list is as long as I want to make it at this point! I think I might try this organic cleanser recipe from another AT post:
'Make your own spray cleaner by mixing two tablespoons lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap, 1/2 teaspoon washing soda, and one teaspoon Borax into two cups hot water. Mix until dissolved.'
Hi everyone. I just moved into a small cottage with no closet space. I really have to pair back. I have been here a month and I still have tons of boxes stacked all over the place. I posted before pics in the flickr group. I look forward to getting some stuff cleaned up and getting to know some new peeps. Good luck everyone.
Where's our second post for this week?!
