SF Spring Cure: Week Five Check In

4-11-08curelogo.jpgAre everyone's offices feeling cleaner and more organized yet? Who's attempted the Media fast, or are you saving it for the weekend (or skipping it all together?) We've noticed a slow down over at our flickr group, but optimistically are hoping our Curers are just too busy getting those files organized to remember to take and upload photos of their work.

Click below the jump and comment to share how successful (or overwhelmed) you were when dealing with your files and other office related Curing?

When cleaning out our office area, we always find it shocking just how little paperwork we need, and how much we end up shredding when we go through those seemingly endless stacks that build up on our work surfaces. Anyone have a particularly clever filing system they want to share? A challenge or victory they had this week?

I start gutting the entertainment closet / bookshelf / filing system this weekend. First thing is to empty it out. Second thing is to repair the dry wall (yeah, I know, this is several weeks late). Third is to install a new and improved shelving system. Then the part I'm looking forward to most: shopping for organization / filing systems! It probably won't be done before the cure is over, but at least it's getting done. :-)

i got rid of my tv not too long ago which cut down the media saturation immensely. i've been keeping up with the news via the internet (no pesky commercials to sit through) and through NPR. but yes! i will try to do a full fast this week! :-D

in terms of paper clutter, a good idea is to scan the docs you don't need in hard copy. save the files as pdfs and store them onto cds or external hard drives. works like a charm! i scanned over 700 separate pages one weekend. so worth it! you can get a decent scanner/printer for less than $100!

After last fall's cure and file reorginization, I've found that segmenting my filing has been really helpful. I have four overall categories: 'music endeavors', 'design endeavors', 'household' and 'personal'. Each category is identified with its own color coded label and then alphabetized within that category. At this point, only crucial documents and information are kept in hard copy form.

My media fast is happening tomorrow. I indulged in some ranunculus this week. They have had awesome staying power.

That would be 'reorganization'. Bah to typos.

Our bath remodel plans are coming along. Next, we need to choose tiles and a tile pattern, answer a few questions with regard to permitted lighting, and decide on whether to install a bathroom fan or just rely on two windows for ventilation.

The media fast was a bust. I *need* to wake up to tea/coffee and a newspaper in the morning.
