Baies Diptyque Candles

10-17-baies.jpgWe blame a certain relative.

She got us completely hooked on Diptyque candles. First it was Muguet, and now it's Baies. But here's the funny thing: We seriously love the scent, but we couldn't quite place it. When we finally looked it up, it was defined as... Black currant leaves and Bulgarian roses. Definitely not what we expected. (And infinitely better than it sounds.)

We're usually not fans of scented candles, but these little French beauties are worth the high price tag (about $55). They burn for 50 hours, and they're about as far as possible from the scent of a candle purchased at, say, your local Longs.

Available at Diptyque on Maiden Lane, The Gardener in Berkeley, Neiman-Marcus, and online at Bigelow Chemists.

I have them all over my home and I'm not really a candle person...
