Paine's Balsam Fir Incense Sticks

12-18-paines.jpgLove the smell of a Christmas tree but don't go in for the tree? We've spent too many years secretly pining away for that Christmas scent to fill our home with a little bit of holiday spirit.

Thanks to Hoping for Happy Accidents, we've solved that wee problem and stocked up on Paine's Balsam Fir incense sticks. It should do the trick and keep our nose busy and our home cheery and festive.

I saw this on my trips up to Vermont to visit a friend right after college (over three decades ago) ... glad to know it's still around!

These make me a little sad. I bought them last year after reading this post, and kept them squirreled away until the holiday season. Last night i lite one of the incense sticks with great expectations, since they smelled SO GOOD in the box, but the incense not only turned into a smoke bomb (seriously, i had to put it out after 5 minutes because it was smoking SO MUCH), but it didn't smell like fresh christmas trees... they smelled like *burning* christmas trees. More campfire that anything else, which is unfortunately not the holiday mood i was trying to set. :(
