Vintage Vornado Air Circulator

8-31-vornado.jpg

Is it any wonder that we've been thinking about fans this week? This year our Indian Summer is even more dramatic since this is our first real heat wave. If it keeps up, we may actually break down and buy this gorgeous Vintage Vornado Air Circulator.

This is one fan (excuse us, air circulator) that we wouldn't mind having on display even when it's not being used.

$99.99 at Vornado and other retailers.

Amazon sells it and its on my wish (lust) list. I love retro 50's colors and style.

I have one (in black) and I can vouch for its cooling power. Vornado's site explains the difference between a circulator and a fan (basically a fan has blades pitched for a wide and short air pattern to blow on your body, and air circulators are pitched for a long narrow cone. You point the ac at a wall across the room and it cools the whole room, not just the body of the person in front).

I love it as it really cools my place down, and even better, in the winter, I have pointed at my radiator to warm the place up! (when I lived somewhere with forced air heating, I warmed the place up by pointing it at the ceiling to force the warm air that rose to circulate back down the walls to me)
