Refurbished Midcentury Portland Home

101909midcentury1.jpgLooking around on the Portland Monthly web site, I was reminded of this amazing mid-century home that was featured in the September 09 issue. Here some photos of the SW Portland home of Jenelle Isaacson and Zoltan Dubrawsky for those of you who didn’t happen across it at the time…

The bedroom’s built in bed and side tables are all original. There is a matching dressing table and drawers along the opposite wall. The living room has beautiful Arizona rainbow flagstone fireplace. The bench under the (hidden) entertainment center is a wood storage box that can be filled from the basement!

The kitchen has several clever hidden storage features. The gold flecked countertop and tiled backsplash are original.

See more photos and read, Honoring the Past, to find out more about the history of this home and the painstaking work that went into refurbishing it.

What a delightful home -
It's amazing that it's survived without having it's built-ins ripped out and paint slapped on the cabinetry for the sake of "updating"

I bet this is what one would mosikely find of a home built and lived in by the original owner.

I totally agree that this is a delightful home and I bet during the holidays, it'd sparkle and I'd totally do it in the Christmas decorating of the general period myself, colored blinking lights and all.

i love the home! very honorable what they've done to it.

although i just can't help but cringe at the sight of that hideous rocker in the first picture...looks like an old folks' bathing chair, upcycled with tinker toys. i know it's iconic or whatever. just, ick.

Has anyone been watching Sarah Richardson's redo of a midcentury home on "Sarah's House"? Yesterday, she redid the master bathroom, and added a small bathroom in the cellar. I love her stuff, but I was disappointed. She didn't keep with the home's midcentury style AT ALL. It was the usual traditional modern. I was hoping to see her take on midcentury modern modern. :(
