The architects completely altered the layout of the apartment by rotating existing walls and doors, rather than building new ones. They combined rooms to create new multi-use spaces, and opened up hallways into wide passages that lend themselves to use as rooms instead of just walkways.
But as interesting as all the structural renovations are, we're really smitten with the cosmetic choices they've made. Tile floors and walls in several different designs create a beautiful layering of patterns. Original glass-paned double doors were left intact to contrast with the new modern details.
You can read about this renovation in great detail at MocoLoco, or on the Arquitectura-G website (in Spanish).

I love it. But I would HAVE to add color and warmth, through furniture and art and whatever else worked in the space. It is highly creative and really well-executed, though!

It's perfect aside from the tile. Concrete or terrazzo would have been perfect.
