Paper Art by Helen Musselwhite

A while back we posted about papergraphics by Yulia Brodskaya. Today we would like to share with you the amazing paper art creations of illustrator, Helen Musselwhite. More photos after the jump...

She makes very detailed scenes in box frames from a multitude of hand cut papers. They involve multiple layers and a wide variety of textures and patterns. Each one of her pieces is carefully planned starting with a simple sketch.

Helen's inspiration comes from "mid-century design, folk and ethnic art." We came across her work on Automatism.

Check out more of Helen's work on her website. To learn more about her process, read the interview with Helen on the Creative Review website.

I love Helen Musselwhite's work! It's sort of inspired me to try my hand at paper-cutting, although it's discouraging to realize that I'll never get that good! I just blogged about her work a couple of weeks ago:

Helen's work is beautiful! I love her monotone pieces, so many layers and things to look at, great detail!

I've admired Helen's work for a long time, and I adore her use of natural subjects with a bit of whimsy. Major talent.
