Paper Doll Mosaics by Rebecca DeVere

devere1.jpgWe just made the shocking discovery that Seattle (well, Bellevue) hosts a Fashion Week of sorts, and it begins this weekend. It struck us that the act of self-decoration is so routine, yet a week celebrating the various ways one can do it still holds a definite appeal. If youre into that sort of thing.

As we adorn ourselves, so we do our homes, and Rebecca DeVeres Paper Doll mosaic series intentionally mimics the act of clothes shopping. Each small, 5.5" x 10.5" mosaic depicts a different, specific item of clothing, and DeVeres website directly encourages readers to collect outfits, like paper dolls for grownups.

In our imaginary dressing room (appearing in the want column of our room list teaser for week two, Curers!), our own collection of DeVeres Paper Dolls would hang framed in a row above our highboy. One day, one day.

Puppy.jpgAll of Rebeccas work seems to center around the everyday, like pets (see the cute puppy on the right) and food, in addition to clothes.

The particular piece pictured above, Handkerchief Hem Dress, is our favorite and available online through Bluebottle Art Gallery + Store. Others (including mirrors and little turtle mosaic sculptures) can be ordered through her own online store.
