Red Cake Gallery

Red Cake says that they're hoping to start a small revolution: when it comes to art, you can have your cake and eat it too.

The online gallery offers small, friendly art at small, friendly prices. They carry original works, limited editions, artist ephemera, clothing, and accessories that are affordable for collectors of every price range -- nothing's priced over $350.

We love this description: Hand-made zippered clutch hand-printed with hot-pink mercury drop graphic and black circles onto black and white striped canvas. Industrial black zipper closure, so nothing falls out. Pleats expand to fit cell phone, makeup, writing utensils, a flask, and small shoe. It stands up on its own too. (A small shoe?)

Red Cake also provides a venue for artists whose work is too small or unusual to be featured in commercial galleries or retail outlets.

Although they're online to start, they'll be having bi-monthly live events, with the first in San Francisco this Friday.

Hi There,

I need some AT advice! We recently bought a chocolate colored couch for our living room and have a few pieces from this Crate and Barrel collection:

I am stumped as to what color to paint the walls. I can't do anything yellow, since that is color of the kitchen which the living room opens up into. Sage is our bedroom color so that won't work either. Does anyone have any interesting ideas for us? I recently bought a sample of "Comforting" by Behr, which is a latte color, but think it may just be to dull or blend in too much.

Thanks so much!
