San Francisco graphic designer Suzanne Shade started The Beholder so that people could find and buy art outside of the gallery system, and so that artists could connect with a large audience via the web.
The Beholder includes paintings, photography, drawings, and mixed media. The art on the site is created by both full-time artists and those who hold day jobs. Artists are from SF and also Chicago, New York, and other areas.
Other great things about The Beholder? Prices range from $100 to $5,000, with most pieces priced between $100 and $500. It has a 20 percent commission, so that artists receive the majority of the proceeds. And there's a seven-day trial period so that you can live with the art before totally committing to something you'll see every single day.

want. it. all.
sigh.
But they are affordable - at least some of them. Which is more than I can usually say. I love this site - but you may already know that by my blog - great minds think alike ;)
Fabulous site - now I'm going to have to visit the shop! Suzanne, are there any plans to get more of my passion, city-based b&w photography? :D
