As you've probably gathered, we're way into map décor around here. My favorite maps for framing tend to depict more than just physical geography, like these two literary maps of San Francisco, from two brilliant local artists...
The full-color map above the jump was commissioned by the Chronicle (and we spotted it on the fabulous EmilyStyle). Artist Ian Huebert fills the neighborhoods with quotes about our fair city. Let this one from poet Czeslaw Milosz sit with you for a while: There is San Francisco Bay, metallic and darkening now, taking only some of the sky's green, yellow, and carmine.

We also love this literary map from 826 Valencia, illustrated by local artist Paul Madonna, whose strip All Over Coffee appears in the Sunday Chronicle. SF author Jenny Traig provided text describing the city's most famous literary landmarks, so you can actually use this map to guide you on a literary tour of our town. Or you can just hang it up at home and admire its gorgeous drawings!

Best way might be to print it out small, then scan it at high resolution, then print a poster from that. I think at its current size it would be quite pixelated at the size of a poster.
