Northwest Fall Cure: Graduation!

12-15-08-cure.jpg
Wig3000 found this wire cactus frame while getting some exercise, and is considering adorning it with Christmas decorations. We love how the Cure process can clear our home's "canvas" and leave us receptive to serendipitous finds like this!

Well, Northwest, we've come to the end! The end of this round at least, which may or may not find you feeling like you've truly finished the Cure. Regardless, we've all accomplished a lot, and our hope is that you've at least got a head start on Spring. Wherever you're at, we want to hear from you! Leave a comment with both your AT and Flickr names, a link to your final photos, and what you feel you've accomplished, large or small. I'll keep updating this post throughout the week with your names. Give us all your final update!

(Tip: If you want folks to go to your Flickr sets, put your Flickr URL in your AT profile under "website" and it will direct folks through.)

I really learned a lot through beginning this ...I see it as an ongoing process. Though I didn't complete the 8 weeks, I will be continuing to work on my home, starting after the winter holiday season.

The most useful things I learned were that taking pictures of my home helped me see it with new eyes, to see where the areas of imbalance are, and that just like the AT Cure book says, moving furniture away from the walls makes the space feel bigger. I really didn't believe it, but when I rearranged my living room it felt 100% more comfortable.

Oh, and I made a mod clock for my kitchen

I didn't get far at all. I think I was three weeks in when I got the call that my offer on my house went through and then I ended up packing and moving. you can expect to see some fun pictures for the spring cure though!

I learned that decluttering is easier when I think of it as "upgrading". I bought myself a new set of pots and pans, which I would have never done before the Cure. and thus i got rid of about twice as many random pots and pans that were crappy.

I also learned its a lot easier for me to do the Cure if I have a whole group to hold myself accountable to.

And I learned that pictures are fun! and give some excellent perspective.

Well, I think this WILL be our Christmas cactus. We are spending time at my parents over the holidays, so I just don't see the point of felling a living tree.

Thanks to bluefem, fjorlief, and revolution 9 for such good company in the SF thread.

I will remember our Fall Cure 2008 as a time when I worked on our new bathroom:

organized my lipsticks by shade, added kitchen drawer liners, bought many flowers, and cooked many meals.

There is still much to do, but much has already been accompished. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
