Yay! The weekend's almost here. I don't know about you, but I could really use the two days off from work to re-focus on the Cure. Things are still active over in our Flickr group — and I'm hoping that, with another weekend upon us, we'll get some good stuff going here as well.

In the Deep Treatment, it's all about the living room. For some of you this may be a big deal (e.g., purchasing and/or rearranging furniture). For others it may not be as much trouble (e.g., tidying up the coffee table, flipping the couch cushions). And there's also another goal: Cooking at home three times this week. I highly recommend checking out The Kitchen for recipes and inspiration. The editors over there have even written some Cure-specific posts (like this and this).
The One Room Workout focuses on shopping, including Carb and Protein furniture. Keep track of your budget with our handy worksheets.

But see, I knew how the results would turn out! (Though I clicked #2, cause good intentions just don't get me to #3 honestly!)
Case in point: I totally ignored the living room this week. I have curtains which need hemming. The bookshelves really do need editing--and all the videos/DVD's I've ever culled from the shelves sit in the basement, still, waiting for the good clutter fairy to whisk them away to a consignment shop for me.
Thanks, everyone for the encouragement on the fireplace! It'll get done, eventually. I'm wondering if it's "cheating" to give the husband an electric fireplace insert for Christmas? I saw one at HD for $150.00 today. ("Cause the direct-vent gas fireplace I REALLY want probably ain't never gonna happen.)
Happy curing this weekend! We'll be getting deep into the dining room and hopefully get it all painted and purty. Washing the walls on Saturday. ooooh such fun!

Haaa! I just found out I have a holiday on Monday! I knew I wasn't going to make it to BB&B this weekend and I just got a reprieve (because, sadly, none of my friends have the day off so I'm kind of on my own, so I might as well get that curing done that I haven't had time for). Lampshades sure aren't easy to find though, even if I do know exactly what I'm looking for now.

I don't know if this helps you, but I look for mine at the big box stores, and Walmart (though only as a last resort). I was in a lighting shop yesterday looking at "quality" shades and they started at $100. Lovely, yes, but a wee bit out of my price range. Department stores like Sears also carry nice mid-priced ones. Maybe your new PB will have one?

Yeah I need to make a trek to the other side of town and hit Target and BB&B, somehow I doubt Pottery Barn will really have a lampshade I like in my price range but the website sure does (I'm not looking at shipping this stuff though, UPS hates me) so I will have to hit them too... I got a $10 off card for the new Kohl's that opened up so I might have to check there too, never been to one of those.
And on the fireplace insert? DO IT. It's way better to use the fireplace than to sit around dreaming about your gas insert you're going to get someday (I speak from experience about that second bit).

Alana - I'm with Anne (in Reno) - Get the fireplace insert! We kept putting off some fixes to our fireplace and didn't use it for almost two years. And now, I no longer have to dread those cold cold nights -- because they give us an excuse to get a fire going.
