With all the talk of fancy, high tech vacuum cleaners, it's easy to forget how much easier it sometimes is to just use a broom.

With a broom there's no power cord to uncoil and carefully recoil; no search for an available power outlet; no fussing over attachments. There's just the sweep.

We're fans of hand-made Shaker flat brooms, which come in various sizes for spaces and jobs small to large.

Unlike your run-of-the-mill extruded plastic broom, Shaker brooms are made of a moisture-resistant grass called broomcom, which actually absorbs dirt and dust.
