Geremia Design

Lauren Geremia is the creative force behind Geremia Design, specializing in some of San Francisco's most eclectic bars and eateries. With a background in fine art, Geremia treats each space as if she's curating a show (and curate shows she does, as one of the founding owners of the new Collect Gallery in Oakland). Now translating her commercial work into residential designs, we see a lot of intriguing possibilities for home:

Before & After: Eddie Ross Loves Pattern & Color

We know that Eddie is killer creative and technically savvy with before & afters, and here's yet another great example. These Salvation Army chairs truly were salvaged with a little vision, some great colors, and strong patterns:

The Gallery: Matt Shallenberger

Currently showing at Collect Gallery in Oakland, Matt Shallenberger's serene, sequenced photography recalls Chinese handscroll painting in its methodical, thoughtful process. As panoramas, these images happen through multiple exposures taken over several minutes, resulting in a measured unraveling of time and a great sense of journey...

Low, Light Coffee Tables

In addition to loving blue velvet, suezq was curious about the fantastic pair of round coffee tables spotted in one of the blue velvet rooms (shown below and here). We don't know the exact source for those, but found a few that might give your living room a similar feel, including the low tray table from CB2 above.

You want it to retain its luster for years, you want to keep the hair and cat fur under control, you WANT VELVET. Here are some cleaning tips from around the web since we lack personal experience:

Garage Sale Hunting Inspiration

Early autumn garage sales are some of our favorites; wake up early, throw on a hoodie, grab some cash and coffee and foray into the unknown yards and garages of those who purge at the change of season. Pass through a lot of junk, a lot of could-want but don't need, and hopefully discover a gem or two along the way. These folks did find some gems and have inspired us to never give up the hunt:

Blue Velvet Obsession

This is one color/texture obsession that's just not going away for us. While I've yet to own a blue velvet piece of furniture, these 10 examples have it high on my gush list, in a way that feels far from a fleeting trend. If anything is going to be covered with velvet, it seems that it must be in a great shade of blue...

Knuts 4 Knots by Lisa Davidson Wissink

On a recent stroll through the Mission, we caught Lisa Davidson Wissink's "Knuts 4 Knots" show (sadly, only through the window on the shop's closed day). Selected for display at the much-loved Curiosity Shoppe, Wissink's knots were developed, identified, and styled as art objects/boards, highlighting the complexity, beauty, and useful, historical practice of knot tying:
