The Amazing Door-o-Vision

12-2-08 doorovision 4.jpgEven with a wild imagination, there are still some things that are hard to envision without a little help. Take, for instance, how a new front door might look on your home. Would an MCM door mesh with Cape Cod construction? Is it better in purple or red? See the new tool that can get you some answers, below the jump.

Tiny Cottages Make Use Of Found Objects

11-25-08 cottage 1.jpgCan you spot the tomato sauce cans used in the construction of these cottages? How about the flour sacks? Or the vent hoods? If not, it's because the found objects used to craft these 364-square foot cottages blend so nicely with the more traditional materials used by their Craftsman neighbors. Incredible inspiration from two builders with unusual salvage below the jump!

Botanical Table Linens from Appetite Home

Sure, it's a little late to get started on Thanksgiving table decor, but -- in our humble opinion -- it's never to late to admire handprinted linens. With holiday parties looming on the horizon, there's still plenty of time to pick up Appetite Home's runners, made with natural fabrics and featuring simple botanical prints.

Oregon Home

11-06-08 island.jpg

Yesterday's post about kitchen counter bars seemed a perfect jumping off point for these tips on how to create a functional and attractive center island. See the entire list of tips below the jump!

Survey: What's In Your Bathroom?

11-04-08 bath.jpgWe just returned from a 10-day trip and now we can't stop thinking about bathing. Why? Because the house where we stayed was outfitted with a clawfoot tub and a very short handheld shower. And if this weren't awkward enough, no curtain meant that sprayed water had the potential to leak through the floor right into the kitchen. It was, shall we say, an experience.

The Gallery: Susie MacMurray

10-24-08 susie 9.jpgWe can't remember the path we took to wind up at Susie MacMurray's art, but it most certainly involved the creative use of unusual materials. Can you tell what common party paraphernalia she used to create these art pieces?

10-22-08 cecily.jpgJust the other day, we received an invite to an Oscar party. That's in FEBRUARY, folks.
